The works exhibited at Louis Lacerte dating from 2012 to today. The most recent are mixed media on paper created this year in Montreal and pasted in Switzerland. Creations very worked, as the Shard n o 4 in which the swaying forms of his paintings reveal enigmatic figures in shades of black, white, gray and brown. A typical work of this art form that characterizes Francine Simonin.
Radiance n o 1 and brilliance n o 5 reconcile us with a comforting and relaxed outlook on life. In these dramatic times, bright yellow Francine Simonin, mixed black and white, and offset by an ocher background, are reassuring. Two abstract mixed media that evoke a tree bark, but the lemon yellow, where did they come from? We had not seen such in the Waldensian artist since his yellow Gardens in 2004.
"I was in a period where I did a lot of black, brown and white. There were some bright colors and I wanted to switch back to color. All the work we do, they are always testing. Sometimes one color with another, it's fantastic. It suggests to me emotions and thoughts. Go on then! This is how the sea could be red ..."
In this series Shard, the artist makes "popping" his pigments and stuck his carefully decomposed and wallpapers bunk. "I am an architect in my work, she said. I like to build my sheet or deconstructing, deconstructing or something we know to do anything else."
